3 steps to your driver’s licence

1. Emergency First-Aid course (Nothelferkurs)

First you need to have successfully completed the Emergency First-Aid course (called «Nothelferkurs» in Switzerland). Your certificate must not be older than 6 years.

If you haven’t completed the course yet, I recommend taking it at Bernsohn Fahrschule (offers courses in English). Feel free to write him at 079 678 96 10 a message.

2. Theory exam and learner’s permit

You can then apply for a learner’s permit and register for the theory exam at the Road Traffic Office (Strassenverkehrsamt). After having passed the theory exam, you will receive your learner’s permit. For more information, go to “Theory Exam & Learner’s Permit”.

3. Driving lessons and traffic safety courses

You can now register for driving lessons at Fahre Schlauer. For more information and pricing, click here.

You can take the compulsory traffic safety courses (VKU) at Bernsohn. Feel free to write him at 079 678 96 10 a message.

Good to know: Swiss driver’s licenses remain valid indefintely and don’t contain an expiry date.
